First of all, check if you have all the necessary ingredients for this recipe. Pay attention to the quantities!

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
2 cups breadcrumbs
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cups marinara sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

The Steps

Next, follow the steps to finalize your dish and finally be able to enjoy it!

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
Set up a breading station. Place the flour in a shallow dish. In another shallow dish, beat the eggs. In a third dish, combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
Coat each chicken breast in flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Press the chicken into the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring it's evenly coated. Place the breaded chicken on a plate.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a generous amount of oil. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown. Work in batches if necessary. Transfer the cooked chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Spoon a thin layer of marinara sauce onto the bottom of the greased baking dish. Place the cooked chicken breasts on top.
Spoon marinara sauce over each chicken breast, covering them completely. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves for a pop of color and added freshness.
