The Steps

Next, follow the steps to finalize your dish and finally be able to enjoy it!

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving about 1/4 cup of the pasta water.
In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease. Reserve about 2 tablespoons of the bacon grease in the skillet.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, grated Parmesan cheese, and black pepper until well combined.
Place the skillet with the reserved bacon grease over low heat. Add the cooked and drained spaghetti to the skillet and toss to coat the pasta with the bacon grease.
Remove the skillet from the heat and quickly pour the egg and cheese mixture over the pasta. Stir vigorously to coat the spaghetti evenly. The heat from the pasta will cook the eggs, creating a creamy sauce. If the sauce seems too thick, add a little bit of the reserved pasta water gradually until desired consistency is reached.
Add the cooked bacon to the skillet with the pasta and gently toss to distribute the bacon evenly.
Taste and season with salt if needed (keep in mind that the bacon and Parmesan cheese are already salty).
Serve the Spaghetti Carbonara immediately, garnished with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.
